David Rubel at the smoker
For his midlife crisis, David bought himself a Lang 48 Patio smoker. Made out of quarter-inch rolled-plate steel, it’s the smallest model Lang makes (and the only one without a trailer hitch), but it can still hold six large birds at Thanksgiving.

Interests

David is an accomplished home cook. For five years (2002–2007), he hosted “What’s for Dinner?” on Northeast Public Radio, appearing fortnightly to present recipes that parents could make for their children on weeknights and thus avoid the temptation to serve fast or prepared foods. Many of these recipes—and new ones—can now be found on David’s blog. Look for the label Recipes.
